Peggy’s Cove, Lunenburg and White Point Resort

After leaving P.E.I we headed toward Nova Scotia’s south shore but we had a couple great stops on the way.

We first visited Peggy’s Cove. The kids have heard about this beautiful lighthouse and cove forever as it is my mom’s favourite lighthouse and spot. They loved the huge rocks, the lighthouse itself and the beauty of the town.

The windy roads had our Lleyton a bit sick but he was a trooper about it. From there we drove to Lunenburg to see the beautiful colourful houses and boats in the harbour. We ate at a great pub with a water view and for another stamp in our beer passport!

The last couple days of our trip were spent on Nova Scotia’s south shore at a beach resort called White Point. The resort was set on the ocean and a freshwater lake which was really cool and the views were beautiful pretty much wherever you went.

We had thought we might travel to Meteghan as it is part of grade two social for Lleyton and I. After some car sickness on our way to Nova Scotia though we decided that a four hour round trip day trip might not be worth it. We’ve seen lots of small Acadian villages so we decided we didn’t need to see that one.

The resort itself had so many great activities included in our stay and the kids had a blast with everything. Addy and I did an Oceanside yoga class the first morning while Lleyton and Jarett played tennis and basketball. On the lake we took out paddle boats, kayaks, and I went stand up paddle boarding. They also had canoes and rented surfboards for the ocean side. The ocean itself was gorgeous here with bigger waves and rocks so it sounded amazing. It was SO COLD though so we splashed around a bit but didn’t swim in the ocean here. That was okay though because there was both an indoor and outdoor pool that the kids got good use of!

The outdoor pool in particular was awesome as it overlooked the ocean and next to it they had lawn games like bean bag toss. At night they had marshmallow roasts and there was a games room with shuffleboard, foosball and a kids room with different arts and crafts activities at times through the day. Needless to say we weren’t bored at all.

We drove into nearby Liverpool a couple times for lunch and my runs took me to a different beach but we mostly stuck around the resort and played. It was fun! The room was a hotel room so we were all in one room which was different than our previous Airbnb places and it was ok. We had a little deck that Jarett and I sat on at night and the weather was good so that worked. Had it rained we would have wanted an extra room inside but it worked out.

We are now heading back to the airport for our flight back. It’s been such a great trip. The kids have been awesome travellers overall. They did good in the car, the different accommodations and trying new foods. They still had their moments of arguing etc but they are kids and it would be weird if they didn’t.

Canada is so beautiful and diverse and we are so glad to have had the chance to explore a bit more of it together.
